Another quiet week in East London

Another quiet week in East London
Welcome to a new addition to Vital West Ham. 'West Ham on Wednesday' will analyse and summarise the world as it affects the Irons over the previous seven days. Every Wednesday until further notice.

Yes, Wednesday. As in Sheffield Wednesday(heroes). As in NOT Sheffield United (boo! hiss!)

On with the show...

A typically quiet newsweek for the Hammers began with history being made across the pond. Barack Obama broke the mould when he became the first West Ham supporting President (elect) of the USA. Meanwhile the credit crunch dealt chairman Bjorgolfur a few more low blows as our once 'moneybags-new-owner' made the transition into our now increasingly financially unstable-and-willing-to-sell backer'.

The weekend brought the welcome relief of a home game; and welcome it was for 80 minutes or so as we played some nice stuff and were looking to claim a much needed victory until Everton exposed our fragile defence at the death. On the positive front, Collison got off the mark.

The anticipated January sales could see the end of Lee Bowyer apparently, though this week our attention has (re)turned to Tevezgate. Sheff Utd went to the High Court to prevent the Hammers appeal to CAS over compensation. This one will run and run and run.

So there we have it. Financial crisis, legal crisis and relegation form. The only way is up.

Isn't it?
