Ah, the delights of Ewood Park and the self-styled 'Big Sam'. How good it would be to see him get relegated? Nothing against the kick and rush mob that is Blackburn, but just how annoying is Allardyce?
This had nil-nil written all over it. Our team were still lacking in strikers, and Carlton looked tired. Diamanti did not sign in time, but should be in the team for Wigan. The sooner we play 4-4-2 with Diamanti partnering Cole the better.
Jimenez looked our most dangerous player again, and is getting up to speed with the Premier League, he will be some player when he does. Cole had our best chance in the first half after 20 minutes, shrugging off three challenges, but then blazing over the bar.
Chances were few and far between with both Collins and Upson looking very solid at the back. Blackburn lacked ideas, and didn't really stretch us in the first half.
You would have hoped we would take the game to Blackburn in the second half, but if anything Blackburn had the better chances. Substitute David Hoilett had two half-chances to give Rovers the ead, but could not make the most of them.
A poor game all in all, with both defences coming out on top. plus points for us include Faubert continuing to play decently, Dyer getting some more minutes, Spector not giving away a goal, Jimenez builing up his fitness and Cole not getting injured. The game once again illustrated that we need at least another striker before the window shuts.
