Pompey build up - fan's view

Pompey build up - fan's view

What made you support Pompey mate?
Born and raised in Pompey, even though I left the area at around the age of 9 it was inevitable really.

Are you happy with how your season is going so far?
Over the moon! I had this feeling ever since Pedro Mendes scored his dramatic winner against City in the 2005/06 season the only way would be up - but not quite like we have.

The mighty 'Arry Redknapp; what do you make of him?
He is an absolute legend - he winds me up at times but which manager does not do this to their fans at times?

No other man could have saved us in the already mentioned 2005/06 season apart from him - to be honest I do not think that anyone else could have got us to the top flight apart from him anyway... Some have questioned his return after his temporary madness, but I think few can question him now, can they?

What do you make of your owners/chairman?
Sasha is working miracles with the club, putting money in to get things done - including a new roof on the Milton End, so you will not get wet if it rains on Saturday - to take us forward another level.

It is not just money for players he is giving, we are looking at our youth set up, have plans for a fantastic new training ground, so if this is approved the next step will be that illusive new stadium...

Who or what will Harry be buying in January?
A striker! He has made no secret of the fact this is what he wants, with it still my tip that it will be Defoe - although if Jol is given the boot, which looks possible, depending on who comes in he might playing again by then?

Who is the Pompey danger man that the Hammers should watch?
As I said to Wigan last week, without exaggerating literally everyone is playing well and working as a team, so individuals are hard to pick out. However Benjani is on fire, top league goalscorer, not bad for a fella ridiculed by so many - not Pompey of course - for so long.

How do you reckon Portsmouth will go this season?
I am sticking by my prediction of something between 4th and 7th.

To be honest I was bitterely disappointed we missed out on the uefa cup last season, but in hindsight it might not have been a bad thing - if we miss out again this season I think it could be though...

What about West Ham?
I think that you will be in or around the 6th-10th places.

It is a tight league this season, so consistency is the key thing, if Curbishley can find that then it could be higher in those places rather than lower.

If you could take any West Ham player from our squad and put him in yours, who would it be and why?
I have always liked Matthew Etherington to be honest, if we did not have the England no.1 - come on we all know he is! - then I would not say no to Rob Green.

But probably the main one I would take would be Dean Ashton, fantastic footballer - I just wish we could have signed him when you did. Some said it was a gamble and a lot of money, but he is proving well worth it, the injury has not seemed to affect him either has it.

Go on - who is going to win, West Ham or Pompey?
At Fortress Fratton and on the run we are it has to be Pompey - I think I will even put my money on a 3-1 win.

Two footballing teams, two noisy sets of fans. Let's hope we don't have a daft ref ruining the game!

Redknapp is doing well, but if we play well surely we can get something out of the game?
