Villa snap up Hammer Harewood

Villa snap up Hammer Harewood

Hammers striker Marlon Harewood has joined Aston Villa after nearly four years at Upton Park. Harewood, 27, has signed a three-year-contract at Villa Park and links up with fellow ex-Hammer Nigel Reo-Coker.

The former Hammers favourite joined from Nottingham Forest in 2003, making 180 appearances and scoring 56 goals. Last term Harewood found goals hard to come by and eventually fell down the pecking order, being told he can leave at the end of the season.

One of Harewood's best moments as a West Ham player ironically came against his new club, with a spectacular hat trick in the 2005-6 season in a romping 4-0 win for the Hammers.

We at Vital West Ham would like to thank Harewood for his time here and wish him luck in future life (but please don't score against us in October!).

No skin off our nose, another squad number freed, less wages to pay and more money to spend on more transfers. Good busniness, really.
Oh East London...
