West Ham 2 Watford 0

West Ham 2 Watford 0

A goal in each half was enough to give West Ham United three very welcome points, at the London Stadium, against Watford.

The win, lifts the Hammers to a respectable twelfth in the Premier League table, with thirty-points, and puts some much-needed distance between West Ham and the relegation pack.

For this fixture, David Moyes was able to welcome Michail Antonio and Marko Arnautovic back into the side and the team looked all the better for their inclusion.

The home support thought the Hammers had opened the scoring midway through the first-half when Javier Hernandez netted but the Mexican`s celebrations were cut-short when the goal was disallowed for offside.

However, in the thirty-eighth minute the Hammers did go ahead when Hernandez, looking very sharp up front, got on the end of a cross from Michail Antonio to score and get the Hammers support up on their feet.

The game was settled and the three points banked when Arnautovic, back from a three-game spell on the side-lines courtesy of a hamstring problem, was on hand with the easiest of finishes to make it 2-0.

Watford, who had thrashed Chelsea 4-1 in he previous game, didn`t offer too much going forward and the closest the Hornets came to scoring were through a header from Adrian Mariappa and a free-kick from their on-loan from Barcelona winger Gerard Deulofeu, but Adrian was equal to both efforts and will be pleased to have kept a clean-sheet.

The Hammers absence from the FA Cup means that we now have to wait a fortnight until our next match when we take on high-flying Liverpool, at Anfield.
