Alan Curbishley saw his side claim only their second win in the last nine Premiership games when beating West Ham 2-0 at The Valley.

Goals from Shaun Bartlett and Darren Bent either side of half-time were enough to give the Addicks a third home Premiership win of the season, as the Hammers were beaten for a second time in the space of a week despite dominating the opening exchanges.

Curbishley: 'We needed it, no matter how it came about.

'In the first half, we looked very nervous and edgy. West Ham capitalised on that and had the lion's share.

'But we got the goal on the break, and then the second half was much more even.

'I will take the 2-0, and now it is something for us to build on.

'It has been very tough for us, hard to take and hard to work out why it has happened.

'But perhaps we will all be a bit stronger for it and hopefully if we can pick another result up at Everton on Monday, the confidence might come back.'
