Antonio Withdraws from England Squad
Following our home defeat at the hands of Leicester City, at the weekend, Slaven Bilic mentioned that although he`d played the full ninety minutes, Michail Antonio had been struggling with a hamstring injury.
Having been selected for the England squad for the forthcoming friendly against Germany (in Dortmund) and the World Cup qualifier against Lithuania (at Wembley), Bilic suspected that the hamstring injury might see the withdrawal from the squad of the player.
Unfortunately, as Antonio waits for that elusive first England cap, that has proven to be the case with formal notice of his withdrawal being served last night.
The game against Leicester City also saw the Hammers pick up a couple more injuries.
Winston Reid picked up a leg injury and Pedro Obiang was carried off on a stretcher after rolling his ankle.
However, the boss is hopeful they`ll not be side-lined for too long, remarking about the situation,
'Hopefully, they will be fit after the international break.'
Let`s hope that is the case, we could, after three consecutive defeats, do with some cheering up.
