Stevenage 2 West Ham 2

Stevenage 2 West Ham 2

Any Hammers fans looking to see the side get off to a flying start with regards to their pre-season friendly fixtures, would have left Hertfordshire disappointed.

In a friendly fixture against the League Two side, it looked as if West Ham were going to slip to an embarrassing defeat.

Our hosts took an early lead, on the half hour mark, when a howler from Adrian, with the keeper letting the ball slip from his grasp, for Tom Pett to collect it and slip it into an empty net.

Matters could have gotten worse shortly after when Adrian failed to collect a cross and was mightily relieved to see Andrew Bond reprieve him with a shot that hit the post.

But in the second half matters did get worse when Connor Calcut scored with a right-foot drive.

West Ham had struggled to show any invention with regards to creating attacks but managed to pull a goal back with seven minutes of normal time to play when Matt Jarvis headed home ad their blushes were spared in the last minute when Stewart Downing headed home the equalizer.
