What Do The Stats Tell Us?

Ahead of the fixture with Crystal Palace we thought we`d look at a few statistics.

Firstly, it seems that we have the edge over Palace, in fixtures at Selhurst Park, in the last 13 meetings we`ve won 5, lost 2 and drawn 6.

However, in the last four meetings with us at Selhurst Park, Crystal Palace remain unbeaten.

The last meeting between the two sides down in South London, ended 3-3, although that was way back in 1998. In fact a draw could be a possibility with 3 of the last 5 encounters ending in a draw.

It should also be pointed out that the away team doesn`t normally come out on top in this fixture, you have to go back to April 1992 the last time an away side triumphed and that was when Palace won 2-0 at Upton Park. Since that fixture there has been 4 home wins and 4 draws.

Recent form suggest that Palace are a little rickety at home having lost 8 of their last 10 home games. As for goals, they are the lowest scorers in the Premier League with just 7.

As for West Ham, be fearful if we go behind, when we`ve gone behind this season we`ve lost on every occasion. Goals, in the first half for us are also a rarity with the Hammers scoring only 3

I hope that has given you some food for thought!
