'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Everton 2 West Ham 0

Two goals from Kevin Mirallas were enough to give Everton the victory their supporters craved in David Moyes last game as manager of the club.

Everton started the better of the two sides and could have scored very early on when a header down from Fellaini saw Distin stab the ball wide at the back post. But the respite was brief with the home side taking the lead with only six minutes gone.

The goals was, if you`re an Everton supporter, a joy to watch with Baines starting the move, skipping post an opponent, slipping the ball to Pienaar who also skipped past an opponent before finding Mirallas who finished the move off perfectly with the inside of his boot from the edge of the area.

With Everton playing at a high tempo, West Ham were kept in the game by Jaaskelainen with the keeper making a decent save, although the ball was straight at him, from Anichebe. The Hammers, so far, hadn`t offered too much going forward but Nolan got in amongst the action testing Howard, in the Everton goal, from just outside the area.

But Everton looked the more likely to score and on the hour mark doubled their lead when Mirallas ran onto a ball from Gibson before cutting inside and firing past Jaaskelainen. West Ham almost reduced the arrears when Carroll rose to head the ball against the post but it would have been nothing more than a consolation goal on a day when we were never going to be party-poopers.
