'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Arsenal 5 West Ham 1

Ouch!

Our away form didn`t get any better last night did it?

With David Gold implying that he wasn`t too impressed with our form away from Upton Park after we`d been walloped by Sunderland, at the Stadium of Light, I doubt whether he awoke with a smile on his face this morning.

Making my way back across London last night was a solemn experience, I couldn`t help pondering over the fact that our promising start to life back in the Premier League had might just have masked our deficiecies.

Matters, up at the Emirates Stadium, had started so well with Jack Collison opening the scoring after 18 minutes. But the joy was to be short-lived and our celebratory jigs were to last a mere four minutes before Arsenal struck back through Podolski with a low drive that was exquisite in its execution.

But at half time the general consensus of opinion was that we weren`t doing too bad and that we might just get something from this game.

How WRONG could we be?

Our hopes of hanging onto a point or even possibly snatching a win were blown away in ten dramatic minutes.

Just two minutes into the half Giroud edged the Gunners ahead and whilst we were still trying to restore some sort of order to a stunned backline, two further goals in a two minute burst, from the impressive Cazorla and Walcott put the game way out of our reach, at 4-1.

But the misery was to continue when ten minutes after Giroud had made it 2-1, the striker made it 5-1. Thankfully, their were no further breaches of our defence but the night was to have further drama when young Dan Potts was injured in a collision with Sagna and after extensive treatment on the pitch was carried away, to hospital, on a stretcher.

And to think I paid an extortionate sum to be tortured in such a manner!

Never mind, there`s always Fulham next time out!
