Wigan away can be a lonely place.
Playing in a sparsely occupied stadium with a bleakness about it that`s enhanced by the gaps in each corner, it isn`t the most inviting place to go.
It`s the sort of stadium to look at your team and pick out who`ll do the business, who`ll drive the team on and who just might grab that important goal.
One man that fits that bill is Kevin Nolan.
Nolan has been a revelation since arriving at Upton Park and Big Sam is under no illusion when it comes to his importance to the side, when he remarked at the pre-match press conference,
"Whenever a team is relegated, there I slots of disruption. There`s no unity and you have to rebuild team spirit."
"That`s why I always say Kevin was the most important signing I ever made. It`s not what he does as a footballer - it`s what he does as a captain. He unites dressing rooms with his experience and is a leader of players."
