Man U: 'We Didn't Want Argies'

News today from Old Trafford, Manchester United say they 'were never interested' in Carlos Tevez and turned down the opportunity to sign Javier Mascherano.

Man Utd chief executive David Gill: 'We were never interested in Tevez. Mascherano, we were offered him.

'We watched him throughout last season and he played at the World Cup, clearly. We were offered him at the start of the summer transfer window for a significant sum.

'The manager and his staff did not want to pursue that. We were also offered him towards the back end of last week in a loan-type deal for a year, and again we were not interested in that.

'From Manchester United's perspective, Tevez was never on the shopping list. Mascherano we watched closely and very carefully and the experts on that area in our club determined that we did not want to go for him.'

As has been said by many many people, superb signings for the Hammers - SAF is fool if this is true. Time he settled down to retirement surely?

good signing for you dnt mean that you will get sucess straight away tho i went and watched you a few time last season cause my m8t and his dad are season ticket holders and i can see potential the only thing is you have a great display and everyone things that big thing will happen and then you play ***** and lose so lets hope for more consistency this season IRONS

Bull*****. If they bought carrick for 18M, if they were after hargreaves, I think someone is just saving face here. Tevez, maybe not, but mascherano, definately.
