Although Big Sam did exactly what was asked of him and got us an instant return to the Premier League, there are still those prepared to suggest that Allardyce and West Ham are not a marriage made in heaven.
Matthew Taylor, before the squad travels to Loftus Road to take on Queens Park Rangers, has sprung to the defence of his manager, remarking in a leading red-top,
"There is a stigma about Sam, but Sam is the biggest advocate of passing the ball you`ll find. If the keeper has the ball, he want shim to pass it to the full-back, but that`s not always on."
"If you saw us against Fulham, we kept the ball well but we also have two or three fantastic target men. If you need to utilise their strengths, you`d be silly not too."
"There is a lot of unjust stick. His remit was to get the club back into the Premier League and he did it first time. If I was a West Ham fan, I`d be relatively happy."
"People describe him as an old-school manager but for me, he implements modern techniques. He`s right up there with the best modern-day mangers."
Will those fine words shit the gossip-mongers up? Somehow I doubt it!
