'If It's Football, It's Vital'

A Certain Level

There`s the assumption in football that certain players will never attain to the level above where they are operating.

Take the case of Sam Baldock.

Baldock, signed from MK Dons, got off to a decent start at Upton Park but his scoring exploits dried up as injuries curtailed his appearances.

Come the close season Big Sam obviously decided that Sam didn`t quite have the attributes to serve the club in the Premier League.

New players were brought in and Sam was, eventually, moved on with Bristol City offering him a home.

Since arriving at Ashton Gate, Sam has gotten back on the scoring trail, a point illustrated last night when a brace ensured Bristol City won away against a Peterborough side who have now lost all six Championship games, highlighting the point that Baldock is quite capable of scoring at this level, which brings me back to my opening line of:-

"There`s the assumption in football that certain players will never attain to the level above where they are operating."

Your thoughts would be most appreciated.
