Top Notch Keeper!

With Robert Green having chosen to leave Upton Park, Big Sam brought in two keepers to replace him in Jussi Jaaskelainen and Stephen Henderson.

Jaaskelainen is in the twilight of his career and West Ham is probably his last chance to show his worth in the Premier League having, previously, slipped down the pecking order at Bolton Wanderers.

On Saturday, at Carrow Road, the veteran keeper showed that he ca still produce the goods turning in a man-of-the-match performance that kept Norwich at bay.

Following the 0-0 draw, Big Sam enthused about a keeper he knows very well, having had him on his playing staff whilst he was at the Reebok Stadium. Big Sam also gave credit where it was due to Martyn Margetson, commenting to the media,

"I wasn`t worried about signing him because I knew that Martyn Margetson would sort him out."

"I knew Marge would quickly get him back into a great frame of mind and rekindle all his old enthusiasm."

"Perhaps Jussi had just lost faith in himself a bit because he wasn`t playing regularly."

"But Marge has now rekindled all his old confidence and got him back into the right frame of mind."

"When you have the sort of experience Jussi has, even though you are in your late thirties, you can still be a very good keeper if you want to be."

"Just look at Brad Friedel of Spurs, who is 41 now. So Jussi being in his late thirties isn`t a problem for me."

"It`s all about using that experience and having the dedication to look after your body and that`s what Jussi does."

And if Jaaskelainen produces many more performances like that of Saturday, we`ll soon all be remarking Robert who!
