Cole Welcomes Competition

A lynch-pin of our promotion, you could forgive Carlton Cole if he viewed the signing of Andy Carroll, on loan, as something akin to a kick in the teeth.

After all Carlton took a pay-cut to stay with West Ham after we`d been relegated and then looked forward to the challenges that promotion would bring.

But Carlton`s not like that, instead he`s welcomed the competition for places that Carroll`s arrival has brought, remaking to the media, as our game with Norwich City approaches,

"It`s better to always be on your toes and I welcome a challenge like Andy Carroll because he is one of the best target men in the Premier League. It`s just going to reinvigorate me to be a better player."

"You have to have people challenging for places because it is healthy for the club. You get complacent if you know you are going to play week-in, week-out."

With Carroll out injured, for the next month or so, could Carlton get a chance to lead the line at Carrow Road?
