I didn`t think it would be to long before the red-tops started to juggle with figures.
With Andy Carroll out injured for anything up to six weeks, it could be October before we see the pony-tailed striker in action again.
Now when you`ve laid out a cool £1 million to bring him in, on loan, and you`re paying him a fortune each week, it doesn`t take a scientist to work out that you`re not getting that much back for your money.
But injuries are part and parcel of the modern game can happen to anyone, at any time, therefore, we reckon it`s a bit harsh for some hack to do his mathematics and parade an article that implies this six week absence will account for £138,500 of the £1,000,000 loan fee.
We`d much prefer to focus on the fact that if Carroll pays any part in keeping us in the Premier League this season then his acquisition can be classified as priceless.
