The goals Kevin Nolan scored last season, certainly played their part in getting us back into the Premier League.
Now West Ham supporters are hoping that Nolan can get enough goals to cement our place in the top flight.
In typical Nolan fashion, it was he who ensured we claimed the first three points on offer this season prompting Big Sam to sing his praises afterwards, remarking to the media,
"Kevin`s a goal-scorer. A lot of people look at him as a midfielder."
"But he is a David Platt. He gets on the end of things, ghosts into the box without people understanding how he got there. It was through instinct he found that chance. While all the other players are standing watching, Kevin is on the move and he pops it into the back of the net."
"Kevin is as good as any striker in the box. He`s a great finisher and that`s his outstanding quality, proven over many years."
Aside from the above, it turns out that the winner yesterday was Nolan`s fifth goal against Villa, meaning he has hit more goals against Villa than any other team he has played against.
