Hammers - Zola Keen on French International!

The Sunday Mirror carried an interesting transfer rumour yesterday.

With us playing Arsenal it was perhaps just a coincidence that West Ham United are being linked with a move for an ex-Arsenal player.

The player in question is Patrick Vieira.

Now thirty-three years of age, the experienced Vieira is currently at Inter Milan but isn`t considered to be a natural first choice by their outspoken manager, Jose Mourinho.

The article implies that Gianfranco Zola considered making a move for the French international as a loan signing but decided to wait to see how things would materialize in the period leading up to the January transfer window.

But, with Vieira desperate for regular first team football, to cement his claim for a place in the French World Cup squad (if they can get past Ireland in the play-offs) and Zola looking for some midfield experience, the article suggests this could be a match made in heaven.

Could it?

Or is it fraught with danger considering Vieira`s lack of first team football?
