Pearce Will Have City Fired Up

Pearce Will Have City Fired Up

Alan Pardew does not believe the quarter-final victory over Manchester City gives West Ham any kind of psychological advantage.

City have lost three on the trot since then and Pardew admits it would have been tough for West Ham to stomach had the result been reversed.

Pardew: 'Manchester City have not won since that quarter-final. And look at Bolton, since we beat them in the cup they have not had too many results either.

'The gap to the Champions League teams is such that the cups are becoming more and more important for sides like ourselves. So when you do get knocked out of a big competition it is tough to take.

'But Manchester City are a great club with a good team. It will be a difficult game tomorrow. Both teams are in search of a morale-boosting victory.'
